New Dress Code for Babies?
August 7th 2007 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Clothes, Parenting, New Parents
Dear Dr.MOZ,
I have a social question for you. I meet with a group of new moms for coffee once a week, and I’ve noticed that their babies are often dressed in fancy outfits. Some show up in formal dresses with many layers and others are wearing costumes. Is this a new trend or something? Their kids can’t be comfortable…would it be wrong to say something if they looked hot?
Yours,
JM

Hello JM,
I can’t say that I’ve noticed a major trend in babies wearing formal wear, but I actually have seen quite a few babies and toddlers sporting costumes throughout the year. This may be due to the recent upswing in inexpensive and super-cool Halloween costumes
offered in major baby stores like Babystyle. The wee ones obviously don’t have much of a say in their outfits, but toddlers certainly love wearing their costumes any chance they get.
If the babies appear to be sweating or red (due to heat) you should definitely mention it, but I’d overlook it if there doesn’t appear to be a health issue. It might seem a little bizarre to dress a baby up in their “Sunday finest” for a morning stroll to the cafe, but there’s nothing more obnoxious than back-seat parenting. Thanks for the great question JM!
Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

I wrote an article about making sure your baby’s costumes are safe for them, but I’d love for you to visit my site and leave a link back here for my readers so they can get additional advice.
