Create a Pull-String Pinata for Toddlers!I’m highlighting family-friendly Halloween activities and ghoulish resources all week long on Dear Dr.MOZ, and I’ll be wrangling a few of the best posts on the subject from our favorite blogs along the way. To start us off, here’s a fun idea to help keep the little ones involved when the “big kids” are still out collecting candy.

First, buy or build a piñata with your favorite Halloween theme (<- Frankenstein shown). If you decide to build a piñata, you’ll want to start by the 24th or 25th so your creation has enough time to dry. If you haven’t made a piñata before, you may want to go with something without too much detail like a jack-o-lantern to keep the design fun and simple.

Next, turn it into a “pull-string” piñata using these simple directions found at Birthday in a Box. Pull-string piñatas are indoor-safe and fun for toddlers because there are no bats needed. As you’ll see in the mentioned directions, all this entails

is cutting a pull-string hatch into the bottom of your piñata. You’ll have one or more strings for each child attached to the piñata, but only one secret string will be secured tight enough to allow the hatch to open.

A pull-string piñata is a great way to keep your little ghosts and goblins busy, and you’ll only put in as much candy as you would like them to eat so it’s an easy way to regulate candy consumption as well. Stay tuned moose fans, there’s more Halloween fun to come!

Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ
