Can You Bronze a Modern Baby Shoe?
November 27th 2007 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Shoes, New Parent Gifts
Dear Dr.MOZ,
I thought it would be fun to bronze my grandson’s little sneakers for a keepsake, but I’ve noticed that people only seem to do it with leather loafers. I don’t think that my grandson even has a traditional pair of leather baby boots to bronze. Do you know if it is possible to bronze a modern shoe that isn’t made out of leather?
Thanks,
Nana G

Hello Nana G,
You’re in luck because you can have just about everything under the sun bronzed these days, from modern sneakers to pacifiers. You didn’t mention where you lived,
so I’ll include a few examples along with links to businesses in the US and the UK.
American Bronzing Company: They provide shoe bronzing in mounted and unmounted styles and have a nice online gallery to choose from. Bronzing styles are available in both the Antique (not shiny) or Bright Bronze (shiny) finishes. American Bronzing Company prices start at approximately $39.95 a pair, not including shipping.
Kindershoe: Kindershoe of the UK also has a great online gallery with a few examples of less traditional shoes (see sneaker above). Their downloadable pdf form makes it easy to calculate your cost based on the size of the shoe to be bronzed. Kindershoe prices start at approximately £60 a pair, not including shipping.
Thanks for the question Nana G! If anyone out there has experience bronzing their baby keepsakes, let us know by clicking on the comments bubble above.
Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

I think Puma should make a line of gold colored shoes now that I’ve seen them bronzed!

I wish I can do that to my son’s stuff. But I don’t think we have here that “bronzing thing”

Hello.
My name is sam and I work on behalf of Kindershoe. In response to ‘auto parts mom’ – where abouts do you live? Please feel free to enquire as to whether Kindershoe will deliver to you and we would be more than happy to discuss any arrangements.
Thank you

Hello,
Is there one in Australia or does Kindershoe service Australia? I have a baby braclet from hospital.
Thanks

I’m from Boston, Mass. I contacted the US company and will
definitely be shipping my son’s sneakers. The prices are more
than reasonable and I wasn’t aware how far the technology has
come from just processing shoes. Many Thanks for the pointers.
Thanks
Terry

That bronzed Puma sneaker is just too cute. Thanks for the info Terry. I have just the thing I want to send over to them as well.

Another thing to consider is utilizing an easy-to-use baby footprint and baby handprint kits found at most any retail store that sells baby merchandise. These clay prints can then be cast in bronze and attached to a plaque.

Heck yes, in these times you can get just about anything bronzed. I was thinking about getting my baby girl’s booties bronzed but I have yet to go forth with that venture. Sooner or later I’ll get to it.

Oh my yes, you can get anything bronzed and now that I happened upon this blog I just might actually get to bronzing my baby girl’s booties. Then again booties have pretty much been ‘over bronzed’ and I think I might go for something else. Maybe a toy or something like that. I am pretty sure that you really can get just about anything bronzed but I kind of thought it didn’t exist much anymore but then again it looks as though it may be having a come back.

They are sooo cute. Ive got all my kids feet and hands moulded in plaster but I never thought of bronzing any of their baby items. I will now…
Thanks so much.

Two thumbs up! I never thought it’s possible to bronze a kid sneaker like puma but seeing it now it justifies nothing is impossible with the artistic mind.
