Elmo Cards and Go Diego Go Backpacks Make the “10 Toys With Most Lead List”

December 5th 2007 by Dr.MOZ in Recalls, Dangerous Toys, Family Safety

HealthyToys.orgTo stay with today’s safe toy focus, HealthyToys.org (Washington Toxins Coalition and the Ecology Group) has released their 10 Toys with Most Lead list. The environmental groups tested over 1,200 toys that haven’t been recalled (most of which are on the market) and found that 35% contained lead. Many of these have levels far above federal safety standards, but their presence doesn’t necessarily mean that there is direct exposure.

I’ll show you the first 8 below, but visit their list for the remaining 2 and a collection of other harmful chemicals found in other toys including: Bromine, Antimony, Mercury, and Arsenic.

Toys with Most Lead Based on XRF testing by HealthyToys.org

  1. Brush Your Teeth! Robot (level = 23,788 PPM)
  2. Dinner Party Tea Set (level = 12,635 PPM)
  3. Starletz Large Ceramic Tea Set (level = 10,062 PPM)
  4. Elmo’s Take-Along Card Games (level = 9,997 PPM)

Thanks for the info doc! I heard about lead in the Diego backpack and discovered your blog on a search. The post about the lead scanner was a good one too.
