Possible Autism Link: Common Chemicals in Pet Shampoos and Weed Killers

The results of a new study show that there may be a link between autism in children and a chemical found in pet shampoos and other common household products. The findings are still considered preliminary, but scientists are studying potential dangers for children 3-12 months-old when exposed to chemicals known as “pyrethrins“. These chemicals are commonly found in household products like pet shampoos (flea control products, weed killers, etc.) and are believed to contribute to the development of autism according to the recent study.

On that note, this would be a great time to check the ingredients on your pet shampoos and yard products. It may cost a little more to go organic, but it’s a good investment when you consider the possible health risks involved with the cheaper substitutes!
