No Batteries Needed: Wind-up Electronic Toys

See Toys Wind Up Electronic Toys

Wind-up toys are nothing new, but the ingenious See Toys line by Michigan-based Zen Design Group is the first giggling/blinking/buzzing electronic crank toy I’ve ever seen. Crank a See Toy’s handle for one minute (DynaFly shown: ages 5+) and you’ll enjoy fifteen minutes of electronic fun with no batteries!

The good news…no batteries will ever be needed. The bad news…this thing will never stop giggling, blinking, or buzzing. Never.

Happy cranking!

I don’t mind the buzzing, I just want to get my kids off their xbox!

Looks like a great gift idea! Thanks for sharing!

With all the new electronic toys for kids these days, I am glad someone decided to go back to basics.

This looks like fun. I come from a family who has a decent amount of money, I spent $30 on a remote control grasshopper that flew brilliantly last christmas and it was her favorite gift out of a collection of gifts that cost much more. Kids dig things that can fly

I am a little skeptical of things that go BUZZ POP ZOW in the night and toys that don’t require me to spend $10 a month on batteries that will inevitably die after the toy is lodged under other toys in the toy box and left to sing it’s last dilapidated version of Mary Had a Little Lamb. Ok, not really, I am actually a S-U-P-E-R-F-A-N of winding toys from Zen Design Group.

I just remember the similar toy when I was kid. But now it’s different with good design and also colorful rather than 20 years ago :D

A small problem for this Zen Design Group company appears to be that they also make tons and tons of battery powered flashlights and junk toy products spewing heavy metal contamination from hundreds of thousands of batteries all over the world. I knew I had heard of their company before when I went to the Toy Show in NY and saw some of the stuff this Sun Yu guy makes for his other company, IQ Hong Kong. There’s even a press release written by Zen Design Group for the IQ Hong Kong company on their website.

As you can see, Zen Design Group is clearly out to make money on the Green Movement Angle, and could care less about the environment.

Unique (if potentially annoying to adults!) gift. @Erichine - remote control grasshopper sounds fun.

Ok I read this somewhere else before, and these toys are actually really fun, I got one for my son and he loves it

  11. Q Says:

Very nice find. I will buy this toy for my 6 old.

It’s interesting. It’s hard to find toys now that are not needing batteries to function. It looks very fun.
