XGliders: Coming to a Kid Near You!

As someone with absolutely no skills on anything with small wheels, I was amazed to see the video demo of XGliders. Not only do they have the small wheels and extreme turning radius of inline skates (aka “rollerblades”), but like skateboards…they aren’t attached to your feet! The only thing that could make this a bigger nightmare for me would be to be chased by a shark while attempting to ride them. Of course, what makes this a horrible idea to a geezer like myself makes me think that XGliders just might be a big hit with the next generation. What do you think? Will XGliders be the next recreational sensation?

Have fun and stay healthy,

    thanks for very nice blog…

Wow, these do look incredible but dangerous as well. I am a rollerblader and I kind of like the fact that when my feet leave the ground I don’t have to worry about my skates going a different direction. My son loves his skateboard but once he sees these he will probably want a pair. It looks like they might be hard to learn to ride so I don’t really think this will become the next recreational sensation except to some hardcore skaters with too much time on their hands.

While I’m not sure I understand how kids won’t fall off of these in about two seconds if they’re not attached I’m sure many kids will be clambering to try. Could this be the next generation of bull riding? Who among us can stay on for more than 8 seconds!!?? :)

I think this is far better than skateboards. I will buy this for my kid for sure. Has anyone purchased yet?

my kids loves these little toys, they are obssessed with anything that they can cruise one with wheels. first it was the razors then the shoes with little wheels now its these little skateboards that go on each foot! whatever keeps them active is the most important part!

“Coming to a kid near you”… and what age would that kid be? I’m 54 and I’d rather have them than give them to my grandson. He’d probably survive better, though.

these rollers are pretty cool, i’ve been waiting to get my kids a xmas present and i think i’ve found one for my Son! He loves his shoes with the little wheels in the soles, these seem a little more recreational and healthy while having fun!

these are as easy to use as a rip stick, and not that dangerous. i tried them and caught on in like 10 minutes, but i also skateboard and inline skate, as well as skim and surf.

  12. mamalachapelle Says:

You know, skateboarding always scared me, because it can be sooo dangerous if not used properly. But, these XGliders scare me even more. I can see ankles and legs being broken easily.

  14. Eric Says:

Haha, what will they think of next?

    First the ripstick, now this?
Stick to real skateboards guys. :P

    Cheers

  15. Abdul Says:

Dang, those are nice but too bad we didn’t have them when we were young, but those would be great to use!

  16. Delellis Says:

Hmmm , I have a feeling this will be a hit to those adrenaline junkies and x-games fanatics since it’s unique and most importantly it’s hard to master and a bit dangerous to use.

But I shudder at the number of casualties this little bugger will cause , using a skateboard is hard enough to control and this is a lot less stable and less safe to use.

  17. FB Says:

The younger ones might like this . Personally I think it’s way to hard to use , it’s hard enough to use a skateboard and judging from the look of this I have a feeling it’s going to be waaaay harder to use.

I shudder how they will use this in their X-games and other similar extreme sports.

  18. Mr film Says:

OMG ! That has the very unstable sight. It is necessary to be brave! :)

  19. dcr Says:

wow so nice that type of skate board is very unique

  22. Maria-Liza Says:

This is great stuff, but are these Gliders safe for kids under 5 years?

  23. Gabbie Says:

I am sure kids will go crazy for this, but teens not so much. I mean it seems as tho something new is invented every other day. Kids get bored very easy, so by the time they get tired of this, I am sure there will be a new invention :)

  24. Flip Says:

How can this be possible? Very nice concept. I wonder how can you do tricks with the gliders on?:-)
