Hide the Kids: Kota the Baby Triceratops Dinosaur Robot Lives!
October 8th 2008 by Dr.MOZ in Books and Toys, Gift Ideas, Toddler Products
I’m not sure how long that Playskool has had “Kota My Triceritops” in development, but this sure seems like a bad time to release a $300 robot dinosaur to the toddler market doesn’t it? Who am I kidding? Just like that ticklish red prankster Elmo and the Cabbage
Patch Kids before him, parents will be lined-up for blocks waiting for the toy store door to open for the opportunity to shell out big bucks for one of these.
Every toddler that catches the slightest glimpse of the advertisement (see on YouTube) or hears a few bars of the hideous Kota theme song will want this lifelike ride-toy, so don’t say that I didn’t warn you! The blinking eyes, spring-loaded bouncy back, and life-like sound effects, are simply too cute for any kid to resist. What do you think parents, am I wrong to think that Kota will be the big “must have” toy this holiday season? See more at Playskool or grab one while you can at $299 with free shipping at Amazon.
Have fun and stay healthy,
(thanks to BotJunkie!)

Nice toy but not for all children. Some children will fear them.

Wow, that is one cute dinosaur. I would place an order for it right away.

I wish I had one of those when I was a kid. I was so hooked on dinos at the time.
Maybe a little scary for some, but if you kid has an interrest in dinos this will be a winner. Mos Def

This says for ages 3 & up, so I think that for most children over 3 the scare factor would be a non issue. I do know that my 4 year old nephew would be absolutely thrilled with Kota as he is dinosaur crazy!

I’m just not sure about the quality factor of this product, its almost scary to look at. Whats wrong with the old style bubble bouncers!?

$300 for a toy robot, it seems everything is going up in price these days. I can’t see any parent spending that kind of money on a goofy toy like that. Inflation is so ridiculous these days.

My kids will love this!! I agree with Erik that it is really expensive but I think it is worth it. I think this is durable and can be use for a long time.

I would buy it for my child, the price is not very high for such a toy

The Kota missed its September launch, but the 3-foot tall Triceratops is finally here! Back in July we first saw the 37-pound robotic dino and John came away impressed , I think. The tiny giant beast isn’t the most agile.

I think wait for a while and you’ll see that Kota will get discounted as was the Pleo. There are not many parents that can afford to buy a dinosaur for whopping $300 – even if it moves or makes funny sounds.

I don’t often comment on blogs but just needed to stop and say that I like yours.

My nephew is going crazy about the one I bought him! If you’re thinking about buying this, do so – it’s great.
