Jack-O-Lantern Heaven!
November 3rd 2008 by Dr.MOZ in Dr.MOZ Approved, Holidays
I know it can be hard to let Jack-O-Lanterns go after so much care was taken in picking, cleaning, and carving your pumpkins. This is especially true if you grew your own pumpkins in your garden. In the off chance the kids want to know where the lucky pumpkins go to retire after Halloween, you can tell them about The Great Sorauren Pumpkin Patch in Toronto!
Have fun and stay healthy,

My pumpkins have always ended up in the middle of the street smashed and run over until they are nothing more than dust beneath the treads of a wheel.

Well..that’s not quite as heavily as the Great Sorauren Pumpkin Patch, but at least they went out with a bang!

Here is deeepest rural Spain, Halloween is still a simple affair. The kids dress up, but in whatever they can find lying around the house. They don’t buy fancy costumes from the stores – the stores don’t sell them! And they don’t use pumpkins either. It’s altogether an older, less commercialized way of doing things here, and all the better for it too, I fear

This was the first Halloween in many years that I have NOT seen smashed pumpkins all over the street. If people really want to get rid of their pumpkins, they should just put them outside on Halloween. Just kidding.

It’s sad how short the life of a carved pumpkin is. Just when I was getting the hang of it, my kids are now all grown up and “too old” for this family tradition anymore.

Pumpkins make great compost, but better memories. It’s miraculous how large they are growing them these days.
