Bright Ideas: Fun Lights the Kids Will Love
November 6th 2008 by Dr.MOZ in Home
I’m not sure why we’re seeing so many innovations in lighting, but I’ve run into quite a few new designs that your kids are going to love (and one they’ll hate) so I thought I’d share them. As seen above, Dog by Charles Kalpakian will, sit, stay, hold your books, and light the room if you pull his tail.
Another cool design is the “good night eileen” LED lamp by Christine Birkhoven. The candle-like LED begins glowing when taken from the base, and it will slowly fade off as time elapses. There are no holes, charging posts, or plugs, because the lamp uses magnetic induction to recharge when placed back on the base.
And finally, we have the Calculating Chalkboard Lamp by Mingyu Jeung. Before the lamp will turn on, the user must first solve a randomly generated equation presented through the calculator interface. Luckily, there’s a built-in chalkboard to help you work through the problem. I’m not sure how you are supposed to do the math in the dark, so you better bring a dog lamp with you until you figure it out!
Have fun and stay healthy,

Those are really cool lights for kids. How big is it? Is it to be kept on the tables?

Beautiful…the dog lamp is my absolute favorite. Kids get to have a dog, books and reading lamp in one…providing the lamp doesn’t heat up though…

LED lighting is popping up in every aspect of our lives. Pretty soon a normal bulb will be a thing of the past.

I love those dog lights. My children are into everything dog, and they’d love to have them on their bookshelf. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
