Tot-Pod: Baby Carrier, Car Seat, and Stroller!
December 22nd 2008 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Carriers, Car Seats, Strollers
I was scrolling through Trend Hunter’s Best of 2008 lists this morning and was surprised to find the tot-pod. I’m not sure how I missed Canadian designer Aldo Barreto’s winning entry from Samsonite’s design competition earlier in the year, but I love the flexibility of this baby car seat. The concept product includes a hidden storage space (in back), a seat-mount for easy installation in cars, and drop-down wheels which instantly turn the seat into a stroller. The versatility of Tot-pods are sure to make them big hits with parents, so I’ll let you know if Samsonite announces a release date in 2009!
Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

This “tot-pod” looks very interesting, and futuristic, and I think it’s a very good invention which doesn’t need much space. Perhaps there should be more inventions like this one. I really like it. Thanks for this great post.

This is very suitable for couples on-the-go who wants to bring their baby along. It is very convenient to use. Too bad my son is old enough to use this.

A beautiful piece of design… it’s great how it’s both for a baby in the car, and baby in the pram… Easy to carry too? Brilliant…

I wonder if this is actually build-able? It is a fantastic concept and sure to be a winner for Samsonite. Not sure how the baby is restrained in the seat. Anyway, if it is released it will give a significant boost to their business

Cool! The design is very compact and is quite futuristic in a way. It’s like a bucket seat on a sports car. Very classy! Do we have a date for the release yet? Our baby is due this May and it will be awesome for the baby to have a tot-pod.

That is awesome! I especially think it would be great for air travel with a baby (if you pay for their own seat on the plane) and even better for when you get to your destination – car rental problems solved, buggy problems solved – I love it!!!
