Reducing SIDS: The BubLuv Monitoring Device
April 21st 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Family Safety, New Parents, Tech and Web
The BubLuv SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) monitoring device is a concept design by Queensland University of Technology student Michael Geedrick that we’re all hoping makes it out onto the market one day soon. When the baby sleeps, the BubLuv reads her carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations using a co-oximeter in the ankle bracelet and
alerts parents when dangerous situations arise by transmitting warning signals to a bedside monitor.
Perhaps the BubLuv will prove to be the first step towards similar “smart cribs” and related sleeping garments one day as well. I’ll keep an eye on BubLuv developments and will be sure to let you know if/when they are available for purchase.
Have fun and stay healthy,
> thanks to Tuvie!

well it’s nice, but wouldn’t it b easier IF you would keep the baby by your side when you sleep.

This is indeed a good product, why is it out in the market so late! This is indeed a very important product. Thanks for sharing this.

Having kids myself this is a great product. I have a friend who unfortunately lost their love one to SIDS and if this can save a life it will be well welcomed.

As the 4 posters above me already said, this is a really great product! They should immediately release it in the US.

Very cool. Jasmor, if you are sleeping how would you know if your baby stops breathing? Co-sleeping causes risk for SIDS. Anyways as a mother of a baby boy angel who passed from SIDS I love to see stuff like this out here. I use the AngelCare monitor and it’s been a life saver! This looks really neat.

Great product, I just hope they test it thoroughly before releasing it. This could spell disaster for the developers if it fails.
