Twisting The GoodFather’s Arm for Dad Blogs
April 24th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Blogs, Fatherhood, GoodFather Fridays
Being an animated character with a line of daddy gifts named after me (gift CD-ROM, daddy T-shirts), I tend to get a lot of dad-related questions from people. One of the most common questions comes from new or expecting mothers wanting to know what my favorite “dad blog” is. I’m not sure if they ask because they’re hoping to find a resource for the soon-to-be dad in the house, or if they were just hoping to sneak a peak at life through a
father’s eyes. Some people seem to be looking for parenting tips and others seek sentimental moments (of the daddy variety) listed in chronological order. I don’t know how to tell you this, but I really don’t read these kinds of blogs.
The blogs that I do read regularly, might not be for everyone. I read blogs written by guys that question their own parenting skills, don’t like their jobs, drink beer, drop F-Bombs, and occasionally write about topics other than kids. In the off chance you’re still reading this, here are two of my favorites:
- DadCentric (www.dadcentric.com) A team effort consisting of: Black Hockey Jesus, Travis Holmes, Whit Honea, TwoBusy, Ryan, CroutonBoy, and founder/editor Jason Avant. > recent favorite post “Po-tate-o, Po-tat-o“
- Rice Daddies (www.ricedaddies.blogspot.com) Another collective featuring: big WOWO, Charlie, daddy in a strange land, Dr. Lo Siento, F-Bomb, Henri, iDaddy, Instant Yang, MetroDad, Monster Daddy, Mr. Maestro, Newbie Dad, Obi in Vancouver, papa2hapa, Papa Law, Poppa Large, RakuMon, Soccer Dad, SoulSnax, ThisIsLarry, Vincent > recent favorite post “Oriental is a Rug: Five Quick Thoughts on Race“
So there you have it folks. These guys rarely offer parenting tips and I don’t recall a vacuum cleaner giveaway, but if you’re looking for a good read…these guys are damn good writers that happen to be dads.
Your favorite family man,
The GoodFather

These blogs are totally engrossing. I only started to read a couple of posts and instantly I am left wanting more. Very interesting insights and comments about Disney! I will definitely go back to them.
