Self-Heating, Portable Baby Bottles by Iiamo!
April 27th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Products, Bottles and Cups
It looks like someone has finally figured-out how to make a self-heating, portable baby bottle! Iiamo baby bottles (free of lead, phthalates, BPAs, and PVC) heat in four minutes without batteries, cords, or electricity of any kind. I haven’t had the opportunity to see one of these Danish bottles in person yet, but the warming technology consists of innovative
cartridges powered by nothing more than salt and water.
I love the idea that it’s powered by non-toxic, portable cartridges, but I’m left wondering if they are reusable or not. The cartridges are sold in six packs which makes me think that they require regular changes, but I’d love to hear more about the product (click on comment bubble above) from anyone out there that may already be using Iiamo bottles. Both bottles and cartridges are available internationally through danskdesign.nu.
Have fun and stay healthy,

That is a really cool idea! I couldn’t see a price for them on their website, but I would assume they are pretty expensive. Hopefully not, as I would like to get some of those.

Hey Sam – After a little research, I found post on ohdeedoh that mentioned that the bottle is $29.84 after a tax break. Shipping to the US is around $23.44 which gives us a $53.28 total. That’s a pretty high price to pay for a baby bottle, but I’m sure they’ll find distribution in the US in the near future.
I forgot to note that the iiamos bottles are compatible with Dr. Browns and Nuk nipples which is a nice bonus!

I’d be a little reluctant to give any ‘self-heating’ product to an infant or child.. Maybe I’m just a skeptic?

These bottles are absolutely awesome. We use to use them all the time with my little boy. He would never drink cold milk, so sometimes we had to look high and low for a microwave or kettle to heat the bottle. This is fantatsic as it is small and portable and does the same job, but is something you can carry with you.

It’s sounds like a great concept, but how expensive would it end up being just to feed your baby? And really how safe is it?

Whoa! this is amazing.
I will like to try this out. How can one get his hands on it?

They look like a great baby product, but personally I raised the kids on non-heated milk and it was SOOO much easier!

You’ve got to love the folk who come up with these ideas, especially as it is based on ‘green’ technology.
Thanks for the post, just ordered one for my niece
