Family-Friendly Bikes by Madsen and Zigo

May 20th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Bicycles, Strange Products, Strollers

I’ve featured carrier bicycles in the past, but bike designers keep coming up with cool new bikes…so I’ll just keep on showing them. Two new family-friendly designs include:

  • The Zigo Leader: is a transportation system that easily transforms from a bicycle that holds up to two children in a “ChildPod”, to a fully functional stroller.
  • A Madsen: equipped with a kg271/bucket could best be described as the El Camino of bicycles…or would it be a Subaru Brat? Either way, you’ll be ready to roll with the kids in tow thanks to the 40 gallon carrier with removable bench seat and two seatbelts.

Happy riding my friends, and don’t forget your helmets!

Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

The more I look at this one with the tub on the back of it the more I wonder if there is a big hump in the middle of it that straddles the seat and sissybar of the rear child bike?

Do you have any idea how well this thing works and if it has that hump?

    Thanks in advance,

    Corey

These type of bikes are very popular in Holland, if you do a search on Google for “mama fiets” which translates to Mother bikes you will find some very wacky family bikes, like this one: http://www.fietsfabriek.nl/pages/pmduo.htm

the second one , the bucket is a great product. i like it

  24. jim Says:

I would have to opt for the bucket being the better option. I think it looks safer than having your child infront of you when riding.
