Interesting information on Folic Acid & Folate- I’ve often wondered how accurate the recommended amounts are and what might happen down the track from artificial supplementation. Personally I prefer to stay safe by being sure to get the needed B vitamins including Folate from natural sources only.. and so I’d never want to risk doing the wrong thing to my children by overusing supplementation!
It’s an interesting report, thanks.

Folic Acid is great for adults too. Helps wake you up in the mornings.

Ugh, the octuplets Mom has a reality show coming out? I am so sick of hearing about her antics.
That’s certainly what the boob tube does, shuts everyone up. I didn’t realize that a baby would hear 770 words less per hour though, that’s simply amazing. And not in a a good way.

More reason why I should buy books my baby instead of letting her tune in to Disney channel…

Baby-protecting folic acid is getting renewed attention: Not only does it fight spina bifida and some related abnormalities, new research shows it also may prevent premature birth and heart defects.

It is good that the importance of folic acid is being introduced to moms-to-be. I agree it is an essential ingredient in the normal growth of their baby.
However, it is a little confusing to older adults. Should they eat less green vegetables especially if they are a vegetarian? It is a little confusing.

I’m glad to see a formal study about the babies/TV/speech development. Hopefully this will encourage more parents to turn off the tube!

The California bill is really important as the federal government wavers on the BPA issue. Hopefully other states will follow suit.

Interesting article about Baby Babble and the Boob Tube. It makes sense that talking to your baby instead of watching tv helps with their development.
