Lice Assassins: Head Lice Removal Services
June 8th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Family Health, Healthy Kids
If your summertime routine includes sending the kids to daycare or camp, your family may have dealt with head lice. If not, it’s just a matter of time before a note comes home warning you of an outbreak of the little beasties. When it happens, you’ll probably forget to write me
a Dear Dr.MOZ letter because you’ll be too busy trying to type “lice treatment” on Google while fighting an uncontrollable case of the willies.
Fear not parents, there’s a strange new industry spreading almost as fast as the little buggers on Junior’s mop…professional head lice removal. I first heard of London-based Hairforce at Springwise and dismissed it as a crazy British start-up, but after a little investigation I learned that it’s a crazy Brazilian and American industry as well (see locations below). In fact, the lice removal business has been around for a few years now and it sounds like a smart idea considering that most parents would pay just about anything to avoid touching them.
Not only will these businesses make confidential home-visits to remove lice, nits, and eggs, but many offer lice screenings at schools! It kind of makes your head itch just thinking about it doesn’t it? Let our readers know of a service like this in your area by clicking on the comments bubble above.
Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

I remember the days when we get to tease our classmates about their head lice. Hopefully this will not happen anymore, and “cooties” would just be a thing of the past.

head lice are really irritating especially to hyper active children always playing outside under the heat of the sun.. they are really hard to remove.. Lice assassins seems very interesting..

Oh head lice! I bet we all had it when we were kids. Childhood would not be complete without them and it is really irritating and frustrating trying to have them removed.

Oh the niche businesses that are coming out. Do they do screenings of the entire place for sources of lice? I have no idea how lice gets spread.

Lice will always be a problem so it makes sense that someone would make some money out of it

I’ve never seen lice before. I don’t know how it looks.

Good business idea, but I think that’s a bit costly?
You can get a good head lice shampoo in drugstores at a very cheap price.

Small little buggers for sure. They are hard to spot but once you see them on your kids scalp…battlestations. Cool to see a professional service out there and I didn’t realize they were becoming more popular. I like the assassin theme they have going since it makes me laugh.

The awareness about the hazards of presence of lice I child’s head should be spread to the school too. This check should be included in regular health check up list.

What a great idea for a small business. I’m impressed with their can do spirit.
Next would be a bed bug removal service. From what I hear people would pay anything to get rid of a bedbug infestation.

Knowing there’s help out there to get rid of lice is nice to know! Fortunately, my children or my husband and I have never had lice, and I’d like to keep it that way!

This information needs to be given to every parent with a child in school. You would be surprised how many parents do not know the first thing about head lice, or basic hygiene for that matter. Good informative post.

I have never had lice and my two sons have never had lice. We have a very clean place without insects. But it they show up, I will make sure to get the lice assassins asap.

The worst part about head ice is they are so darned contagious. Many parents out there will just send their children off to school with contagious illnesses and not even care about the well being of other classmates.
Assassin sounds like a neat product.

Its good that we now have so many at home remedies. I remember the schools in the past used to spend alot of time and effort dealing with the problem. I think their time would be better spent focusing on other things. If we as parents educate ourselves to the problem we can take care of these kind of problems at home and also keep from spreading the problem to the schools.
