You Review: Milkies Breast Milk-Savers
July 7th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Healthy Kids, New Parents, breastfeeding
If you are a breastfeeding mom in search of an easy way to collect breast milk while staying drip-free, I think you’ll love Milkies milk-savers. Simply slide the slim milk-saver in the bra-cup on the non-nursing side before you breastfeed, and it collects the
breast milk for future use. Not only does this help reduce the use of disposable nursing pads, but Milkies are also BPA and phthalate-free! (test results, pdf download)

As a breastfeed mom I think using this product is a big relief especially to those who have a high supply of milk.

I think this is a good idea, because if you’re breasts are leaking out in public because it’s time to feed your baby, at least you can collect it and use it! But how does it make your bra look…is it lumpy?

Wish I would have heard about this when I was breastfeeding triplets! I tried so hard to save any little drop I could get from it. I will have to tell my triplet parents about this, great idea, thanks for sharing.

For me, it comes down to how comfortable and convenient they are to use. So I’d have to try the product first. The benefit of reducing the need for disposable nursing is legitimate, and probably a bigger benefit than most people realize. Disposable nursing pads have a wicking effect that adversely contributes to oversupply syndrome.

Good idea! I have been breastfeeding my first child, a one-month old, with several challenges. I hope to continue for 6 months to a year….and have just begun pumping. This product sounds like it could help me catch a lot of my supply and reduce the number of nursing pads I constantly use. I’d have to try it to see if it works.

Milk saver is definitely a good product, but not worth the price. The cheapest I could find was at bed bath and beyond. After they waived the shipping charges and 20% discount, it cost around $25. I was not really happy about paying such a price, so I came up with a home remedy. you can use your pumping bra, and fit the breast shield that attaches to a bottle on non-nursing side. remove the membrane and everything that causes vacuum, you dont need that. It really works. The milk just flows into the bottle and after you finish nursing, you can pump some more in the same bottle and seal it shut. No spills and no mess. I dont own a nursing bra, so I just snipped the tips off one of my old bras and it works just fine.
