CPSC Warning: 1 Million Play Yards Recalled

July 9th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Products, Family Safety, Recalls

The CPSC and Kolcraft Enterprises have announced the recall of over 1 million play yards sold under 7 brand names due to faulty side rails known to unlatch unexpectedly. The firm has received 347 reports of rail collapses resulting in 21 injuries to children ranging from scrapes and bruises to one concussion. If you or a friend own a play yard sold under the brands Kolcraft, Carter’s, Sesame Street, Jeep, Contours, Care Bear, and Eric Carle, please visit the CPSC’s website to see if your model has been recalled.

You probably expected to hear that they all made in China, but Spain and Italy get to share credit for this one as well.

At least they caught this before more than 21 injuries occurred. Fortunately, there was only one serious injury and no deaths.

  9. a wilken Says:

Awful to hear of the kids getting injured, and I’m hopeful that the word gets out to all the owners of the play yards so that no one else is hurt.

It’s one thing to announce a recall, but it’s another thing to actually get the products repaired and/or returned.
