I can see why soft, flexible shoes are good for newborns but I have to believe that the more cushion you can get (without altering your gait) between your feet and the hard asphalt pavement has to be the way to go. I’m not a podiatrist or an osteologist so my opinion is just that, an opinion. But what about arch support and heel spurs? My house slippers are thin isotoners, but my running shoes are Nikes and I can’t imagine managing without them.

I would imagine that you would have to learn how to run a whole different way. More on the balls of your feet instead of the heals.
