The SKIN Maternity Dress Grows with You!
October 2nd 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Clothing, Maternity
I’ve seen quite a few maternity dresses in my line of work, but “SKIN” by Marisol Rodríguez could be the first design I’ve run across that actually grows with the baby! The SKIN concept in the designer’s words:
“Each dress transforms itself as it follows the natural process of pregnancy. The exploration of traditional Asian techniques (origami) and simple methods of cutting and folding resulted in a design that expresses versatility, elegance, and extended lifetime.“
If you are a fan of the design, here’s the good news… SKIN is currently in production in a small home-based business called the Bogota Factory in Columbia. Now for the bad news, the line is only available directly from the Bogota Factory in Columbia. If you happen to in the area, the line comes in three different two-tone styles (each made of organic cotton) in vertical or horizontal pleating.
What do you think moms? Would you wear a SKIN maternity dress if available in your area? Click the comment bubble to open the text box below.
Have fun and stay healthy,

I’m not sure – for my money – I don’t think that would be a dress that I would want to wear

nice concept, is this stuff available on market?

This dress is very ingenious and a little eccentric in the same time.

I like that it highlights the baby bump once you’ve actually developed one. These days women want to show off their pregnancy rather than hide it in a tent. This actually looks good, and it seems very versatile – in terms of being able to wear it at all stages of pregnancy.

Wow! What a wonderful dress. I wore it would only last months of pregnancy to be seen stripes!

Hey,
These look pretty cool. My wife and I are expecting soon, and were recently looking at those baby carriers that allow you baby to touch the skin of the moms, and we thought that was more natural and better for the baby than strollers.
I like the way these SKIN dresses mimic the natural growth of the baby, and shape accordingly.
Nice post!

I think that is a great idea. With my wife currently being pregnant I hate the idea of her spending tons of money on cloths that she will just “OutGrow” This clothing grows with her!

Looks great and comfortable. I would definitely get one of these dresses.

Score one for practicality. This sure eliminates the extra maternity shopping and also having to give up your wardrobe after pregnancy. Hopefully this company expands into other country’s and into more stores.
