I saw a variety of movement oriented seat devices at the recent ABC Kids convention in Las Vegas. It has become a very popular sector of the baby industry and must be a useful function or there wouldn't be so many on the market. Its a great idea to just be able to purchase the rocker device as an add-on as opposed to an expensive crib or cradle that comes with the motion built in. This looks to become a very successful product.

With our first baby we didn't sleep for about 6 months. Our second one about 4. It may look a bit funny but if it was available a couple of years ago we would have tried it! Even a few nights' sleep would have been worth the money, if it works! Who knows if it does, though. I suspect if you could buy it from a local store with a good return policy a lot of people would be willing to try it. I also wonder whether something like that may reduce the chance of SIDS.

Looks interesting! And I would tend to agree with Chris's comments.

What really worked for us was using a CD of (would you believe) the sound of clothes dryer. We had a whole CD of all these different sounds, but the only sound that worked was the clothes dryer - unbelievable!

It worked a treat for both our kids when they were babies.

Just my two cents worth.

Regards

That's a good point Chris, I thought the same thing when first running across the Lolaloo. When featuring baby gadgets like the Lolaloo, I have to assume that most parents would understand that constant use of any motorized product wouldn't be a successful way to establish a healthy sleep schedule. On the other hand, it probably won't be an issue with the Lolaloo considering (a) it's only available in Germany, and (b) at today's exchange rate (1 euro = 1.49 USD) it would cost over $192 not including shipping. That's about $162 above what your average American would spend on a product like this...that is, unless Oprah gives it a 'thumbs up'. ;)

Interesting idea, and I'm sure there are parents out there who would love to have these but it seems like it would create an unhealthy dependence on being rocked to sleep.
