Strange Baby Products: The Flyebaby Seat
October 19th 2009 by Dr.MOZ in Strange Products, Travel Safety
If you are a regular visitor here at the Dear Dr.MOZ baby blog, you already know that there’s no shortage of strange baby and children’s products. From stylish morning sickness bags to umbrella caps, I’m doing my best to cover each strange and interesting invention. The difference between most products placed in the “strange” category and today’s feature
is…parents might actually find the Flyebaby useful!
The Flyebaby is a hammock-style seat designed to provide a comfortable seating area for babies up to 25 pounds when sitting in airplanes, at the beach, or by the pool. As seen in the image above, it secures easily to a tray table on an airplane, lounge/beach chairs, and most kitchen chairs. To be honest, I’m not sure I’d secure my newborn to three-pound lounge chair at a beach in Northern California (could easily become a baby kite with a gust of wind), but it’s a great idea for long flights. Not only will a Flyebaby fit in a diaper bag, but they are machine washable and come with matching storage bags.
Flyebaby portable seats can be found at flyebaby.com in “Jungle”, “Retro-Mod”, and “Solid Grey” for $49.99. Do you own a Flyebaby, or would you like one as a gift? If so, place your review in the comment box below to let us know what you think!
Have fun and stay healthy,
Dr.MOZ

This is cool. You know, we will be having a family outing this coming holiday. We are bringing our 10 month old baby with us. And this product will give my son comfort while we are on the plane.

my only concern would be how well the flyebaby holds onto the seatback during turbulence.
October 21st, 2009 at 3:03 am
The babies should be very comfortable with that seat.

Strange but very useful. I love it!

If babies are happy in those seats like in those pictures, this product will have success.

Thank you Dr. MOZ for taking the time to check out my product and for posting it on your site. I really appreciate it! And thanks to all of your readers too for taking a look at FlyeBaby and for posting comments. I am just a typical mom that tries to balance a 3 year old in preschool, keeping up with the laundry, walking the dog and working! I never thought I would be selling a baby product world wide but it just goes to show that anything is possible! Please feel free to email me directly if anyone has any specific questions and I will be happy to get back with you. If you are interested in purchasing a FlyeBaby please let me know that you saw it on Dr. MOZ’s site and I will offer a $10 discount + free shipping (in the continental US). I will keep this offer open until 10/31/09. Thanks again Dr. MOZ and readers!
Safe and happy travels,

This is a great product! I will surely buy one for my daughter.

That looks both comfy AND dangerous. I`m kinda hysterical and paranoid when it comes to my kids safety; I could never dream of putting my baby in one of those. What if the plane crashes and you end up headbuting your own kid??

Thanks for visiting Kadie, and for the generous $10 discount offer for baby blog readers! The Flyebaby certainly seems to be generating interest, so I think you might have a few takers here.

I wondered about the safety issues when I first ran into it Roger, but they do mention not to use it during take-offs and landings. If the plane crashes anytime between the two…I think you would a bigger problem on your hands! =O

Neat idea, not too many options available in the small portable seat department.

I’ve always been surprised that airlines don’t use something like this for their “little passengers”. They wouldn’t need to make it mandatory but it would be nice for parents to have the option on flights where there are open seats or in the rare cases where parents have paid for the extra seat. Saves some lap time for the parent as well.

What is the max height for use in an airplane?
It says to check the height marker on the product, but I don’t want to buy it just to find out my child is too big. Pls advise.

Thank you again DR. MOZ for bring so much great attention to Flyebaby! We have had such a great response we are extending our $10.00 discount offer though the end of November. E-mail me at justin@flyebaby.com or my wife kadie at kadie@flyebaby.com for the discount, and let us know you found us on DR. MOZ’s blog. Tammy to answer your question, it’s hard to give an exact number for the maximum height because you are able to adjust your child in the seat in order to accomodate the head height marker given on the front label. If you decide to purchase a Flyebaby and you cannot use it at all, or simply are not happy with the product we will provide you with a full 100% refund. Also anyone who purchases a Flyebaby from this blog and provides us with feedback (positive or negative) within 15 days of delivery, we will provide you with a Visa gift card in the amount of $10 dollars.

At first glance I wasn’t too excited about this product. But then, after thinking back on the days I flew with my babies, I can see this being a handy product to have. I’m with you, tho, there is NO WAY I would put this in a light-weight beach chair or the like. That looks like a recipe for disaster to me.
Thanks for the review!
