I’ve seen this on the news and just that time happened I bought one for my nephew, I rushed through the market and return the stroller.

This will hurt Maclaren’s reputation big time. It’s such a shame to hear about the injuries that children have been receiving and I would have thought that they would have tested the product more thoroughly before making it available for sale.

@ BC – The problematic hinges are located on the main side bar, just above the “Maclaren” name on the side of each stroller. For more information, I recommend visiting the CPSC link above to see the video showing the hinge and the kit. From what I can tell from the video, the “kit” is a nylon cover that zips on to protect small fingers from entering the folding zone. Thanks for the posts everyone!

Where is the hinge located? I wonder if it was where it collapses when it is folded up. If that’s the case, whey would your child’s fingers be near it. This defect should have been caught, especially in strollers that are around $900 a pop.

After researching lightweight umbrella strollers for DAYS, I went to the store to try out the Maclaren Volos and a few others. I preferred the Volo, as did my 7 month old son. However, I found truth to… the reviews about the straps being too large. In fact, they are SO long (even when shortened as far as possible), I don’t see what kind of 6-9 month old could possibly fit into them comfortably. I was convinced I wanted this stroller and sat in the store for an hour trying to figure out how to make it work. I wanted to share what I found…Instead of doubling the strap so that it’s “as small as it will go,” leave some slack. Then, fold the single strap on the top part in half and rethread over the buckle. I will admit, it is a pain, but if you have your heart set on this stroller like I did, it works. I pulled and tugged HARD to make sure they wouldn’t come loose and they wouldn’t. We are now doing just fine with our Volo – and while it can be time consuming to fix the straps, it doesn’t happen that often!
