Recall: CYBEX Umbrella Strollers
January 27th 2010 by Dr.MOZ in Recalls, Strollers
There was yet another stroller recall in today’s involved the Ruby, Onyx, and Topaz models of CYBEX umbrella strollers. The stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is folding and unfolding the stroller.
Owners of these strollers in the US and Canada are urged to stop using the strollers and contact Regal Lager to receive a free hinge cover.
Have fun and stay healthy,

Always think safety first, especially for children

Thanks for this update — my cousin has a CYBEX and I am going to ask her to look into this.

Thanks for the comment Hal. It’s great to hear from baby blog readers that my recall posts are making to parents that may not hear about them otherwise.

Is this the one that endangers the child’s fingers in the canopy latch?

Wow i didn’t hear anything about this! my aunt has 2 small children and i think that is the type of stroller she uses, I’ll have to let her know.

Fingertip amputation? That is simply awful for considering that it is meant to keep the kids safe and comfortable. Hopefully no one was hurt, but thanks for the heads-up Dr.Moz.

@ B – It’s one of the many I’m afraid. You might want to select the “recalls” category in the pull-down in the right column. You’ll see other umbrella stroller recalls that were released in the past two weeks (with similar hazards) from Maclaren and Graco.

I think you are very lucky in USA, as you have very high customer protection. I have Maclaren umbrella stroller, and before few month I found out they recall that stroller from USA market. I went to shop and ask what to do as stroller was just few month old……they just told me- that is only for western countries, which do not apply for Croatia!!!??? I can only hope that one day if some product is recall that will also apply in our country

“fingertip amputation and laceration hazard” wow is all I can say… ironic how something designed primarily for safety ends up being extreme hazard to the user…
