Etsy Find: Little Sapling Toys

If you are like me, you’re getting a little fed-up with the plastic junk packed in the big baby and toy super-stores. Plastic serves a purpose for safety products like car seats, but when did we decided that everything “baby” had to be plastic…with mirrors glued to it?
Call me crazy, but my next baby shower gift will be from a company like Little Sapling Toys of Boise, ID. Their reasonably-priced toys are made from either reclaimed, or FSC Certified hardwood. Each durable creation is sanded smooth and finished with beeswax and organic jojoba oil (teethers left bare) to bring out the natural beauty of the woods, and a new tree is planted for every toy sold!

Just like the old days. I remember when baby toys were made of wood. Nowadays it’s all plastic. It’s nice to know there are still some toy companies using wood. What’s great is that a new tree is planted for every toy
Cheers!

It is simply good to see toys made for such small children as they will surely like it. The toys are also durable and a lot of people will like to buy such strong toys for their small kids.

@ P and Luke – I find the prices surprisingly low too, don’t you? I’d gladly pay $12 for a wooden teething ring or $15 for organic building blocks. Little Sapling Toys are BPA free and will be around for the next generation to play with!

That picture brings back old memories of Christmas days past when we would get those plastic bowling pins and balls. We’d spend hours bowling in the hall. Thanks for resurrecting that memory.

Wow, this site reminds me of Ebay, but for people who create their own furniture and items!

It reminds me of my childhood, when my father always gave me anew toy every month made from woods. Before I read this article, I was wondering, why it is so hard to find toys just like the ones I had in my childhood? Thanks man, it really helps.

I like the concept that another tree is planted for every toy sold. I think this is also a good way to help the environment. Planting a new tree is better than throwing a broken plastic toy that will take 400 years before it decompose.

I love the wooden toybox the little boy is holding. Thanks for the great tip for purchasing toys. Here’s a fantastic resource for when you want to build your own natural wooden toys. Wooden Toy Plans My favorite to build are wooden toy trucks.
