I’ve noticed a large number of baby-related articles from breastfeeding studies to bizarre birth stories, so let’s see what is making the news this week:
- Study: Lack of breastfeeding costs lives, billions of dollars: If most new moms would breastfeed their babies for the first six months of life, it would save nearly 1,000 lives … (CNN)
- U.S. Teen Birth Rate Drops: According to the report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, in 2008 there were 41.5 births per 1,000 teenagers aged 15 to 19 years, down from (HealthDay)
- Report: 50 percent of pregnancies unplanned in LA County: A report on the health of women in Los Angeles County notes that 50 percent of all pregnancies … (LA County Public Health)

I gotta say, I really didn’t think breastfeeding, or lack there of, is that big of a deal. My mom and wife have always preached this…guess they were right..crazy

Its really positive to hear about the teenage birth rate dropping, though it could be said my small town was not included in this survey. I can´t imagine giving birth twice in one week – that really must have been horrific, the babies are so small though! Adorable!
