BubbleBum: Portable Booster Seats!
April 7th 2010 by Dr.MOZ in Toddler Products, Travel Safety
Coming soon to a “bum” near you, the Northern Ireland based company BubbleBum has created an inflatable booster seat that is sure to be a huge hit in the US. You simply take the seat out of the easy-to-carry pouch, inflate it, and strap it through a standard
three-point adult seat belt. Not only is this a great idea for traveling, but the BubbleBum would also be an inexpensive solution for providing additional booster seats when carpooling.
Already approved for use in Europe (ECE safety info) and selling for GBP 24.99 (approximately $38.00 USD), BubbleBum is currently in negotiations for distribution in North America. Learn more at www.BubbleBum.co.uk or be one of their first followers on Twitter @bubblebumukltd!
What do you think parents? Would a BubbleBum inflatable, portable booster seat be useful to you or to the grandparents?

Thanks for sharing this new product! I absolutely think this would come in handy when carpooling with the neighbors!

This is a great idea. If approved for U’S’ I may just carry one in my truck for clients as a convenience.

@ Doug – At under $40, you could buy a couple of of these for less than it would cost many boosters of comparable size (like a Clerk Ollie) on the market. On the other hand, those of comparable size don’t deflate and roll-up…so I’m looking forward to BubbleBum hitting the US as well!

Awesome..and so compact too! Is there a weight limit? I only ask because I wonder if adults can also use it. Goodness knows, it would be more convenient to keep one in my car for when my boyfriend and I switch out with the driving..

That sounds cool. But yeah what’s the difference between this and a pillow? Is there a special technology that makes it safer than to use a pillow?

I think the idea is unique.
It’s portable, lightweight and seems to store easily.
If it’s as durable as a regular car seat in terms of “kid proof”, then perhaps it will be a hit.

This BubbleBum looks great, but a normal pillow is still cheaper and make the same.

@ Mike – I haven’t seen a pillow that would meet US safety regulations.

I have a small car. One of the best infant car seats on the market, and one with the smallest footprint, is the Graco SnugRide. It’s been very reliable and we’ve used it with two children now. It fits in my ancient Toyota Corolla’s tiny backseat. My friend who drove a Beetle also used the SnugRide with her baby.
