Dadanana Baby and Toddler Backpack Carrier

April 29th 2010 by Dr.MOZ in Baby Carriers, Toddler Products

Good morning baby fans. It’s been weeks since I’ve tortured you with modern baby gear that is nearly impossible to get your hands on, so let the pain begin! Today’s temptation is the JoinUS baby backpack carrier designed by Dadanana of the Netherlands. Features

include an adjustable infant seat (estimated 6-30 month-old children), padded/ergonomic straps and back support, baby gear storage, a fold-out head support, and a rain/sun cover.

Summer is here…so this is the part where you look at the functionality and fantastic Dutch design and wonder what something like this will cost right? This is where things get a little tricky. Dadanana is a new brand launched in 2006 which means distribution is limited for those in North America. I did a little digging for you and from what I can tell, your best bet for strapping-on a JoinUS carrier on anytime soon would be to visit geboortewinkel.nl of Amsterdam. You’ll need to contact the store for shipping costs, but the carrier will run approximately €139.96 ($185 US).

What do you think parents? Is the JoinUS baby backpack carrier by Dadanana something you would like to see available in the US? It looks like a sweet design perfect for hitting the trails with baby, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it sold in the states soon!

Have fun and stay healthy,

Dr.MOZ

  5. S Says:

nice bag but it seems a bit expensive doesn’t it, is it strong enough to hold a big boned baby?

  6. Dr.MOZ Says:

@ S – It would be expensive it was a bag, but I’d consider it a well-designed baby carrier that also holds baby gear. I think you’ll find most baby carriers on the market to be very well made. They’ll hold up nicely as long as you follow each bag’s weight limit.

As for price, if you look around comparable baby carriers like Deuter or Kelty you’ll pay over $250 at stores like REI. Certainly not cheap, but well worth the cost if you plan on being outdoors for long periods of time. Thanks for the note S!

wew…so cool…but it think my baby won’t like it…because it will limit his moving…

  8. Tom Says:

I think the idea is really cool but the price would be a little too high here in the UK. I do appreciate good build quality however paying over £100 for what is essentially a modified backpack will price most fathers and mothers out of the market, which is a shame.
