Your Weekend Prescription: Cover-Up and Chill!
June 27th 2010 by Dr.MOZ in Cute Factor 10, Outdoor Safety
I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but it will be a hot one for most of those in the US this weekend. The moose M.D.’s prescription for this weekend’s blazing summer heat is to find a high-rated sunscreen without harmful chemicals on EWG’s 2010
Sunscreen Guide and chill like my little friends!
Have fun and stay healthy,

Thanks for the post, my husband just mentioned today that we need to ask the pedi what our son can wear for sun protection. We’ll still double check of course, but this list is going to be a great start.
Oh, and coolest photo ever.

Thanks for the comment Laine! It’s a great regularly updated resource that may include a few brands of quality sunscreen(s) your Pedi. doesn’t know about, so be sure to share the link.
BTW, if your blog bio current (great blog!) and Xavier is 3 months…you pedi will mention that you’ll want to wait until he’s 6 months-old before using sunscreen. Babies under 6 months shouldn’t be in direct sunlight.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Just came across this page whilst browsing. Great photo. Are they guinea pigs or hamsters? Is the photo available. I’m developing a web site on caring for pets.

@ Paul – They are guinea pigs…pretty cute little guys eh? You’ll have to follow my link at the bottom of the post to track down the owner of the photo.

Thank you for the great link! And just in time for our summer vacation
My whole family has really fair skin and finding a good type of sunscreen, especially for the kids, is often like finding a needle in a haystack.

Dear Dr. Moz, This is the cutest pic i’ve seen so far. I feel i should have a pet like this.
Just checked the link. Sunscreens are good to protect skin but the most natural way to protect it is from inside. Eat fresh tomatoes. Lycopene in tomatoes protects the skin from sun damage. Sunscreen with Tomatoes gives double protection. Try it next time you go to beach.

@ mobi – Ha! I didn’t think of a guinea pig water birthing class, but it really does look like one doesn’t it? That would have been a perfect post title!

Hi, what a funny picture! We have a very hot summer. I wish I could spend my time in the pool. Good sunscreen and a good hat is a must.

I had to comment on the picture. =] It would be so cool to have guinea pig party. I live in the UK, so the weather is not the best lol.

lol. I so started laughing when I saw the picture.
Here’s a report from Berlin: it’s so hot I haven’t even found the guts to go outside. And I’ve heard tomorrow will be even worse.

We’re experiencing here a moderate rainfall in North Carolina.
Anyways, regarding on above posted, I’m interested about those sunscreens. Every summer, we’re always having fun going to beach and do sun bathing. It’s really important to have UVA protection applied on your body. Thanks for sharing those products. It gives me a glimpse on what would be the product that is best to use. But of course, before you use the product, you have to check first the sensitivity of your skin ’cause there are products that contain chemicals which are likely not compatible to your skin.
