The Chop Balance Bike by Prince Lionheart
September 2nd 2010 by Dr.MOZ in Bicycles, Toddler Products
It’s hard being a little guy surrounded by older kids, but that doesn’t mean he can’t roll with the big boys. Featuring height-adjustable padded seats, rubber tires, and birch frames made from an FSC certified forest, Chop Balance Bikes by Prince Lionheart teach kids
how to balance and glide before transitioning to regular bicycles. You’ll find them priced much more reasonably than their competitors, which means you can add a 8 Ball helmet by Nutcase for safety and serious swagger at half the price!
Have fun and stay healthy,

@Ben – It’s a little surprising that balance bikes weren’t invented before Bigwheels and other modern kid’s bicycles isn’t it? The wooden designs and lack of pedals/chains make them seem so “old timey”.

A friend of mine just got one of these for his 2 1/2 hear old nephew and the child new exactly what to do immediately! He walked over to it and put his own leg over and scooted around without anyone showing him how! It is really a great gift for any young child.

Regarding safety of these bikes; most of the wood balance bikes I have come across are made using baltic birch plywood that is manufactured using non-toxic glues and varnishes. My son used the Prince Lionheart classic bike when he was three and we just loved the durability. The Wishbone Bike is clearly designed to get your child started at a very young age being that it can be configured to be used with three wheels.

@ Jeremy – Thanks for the comments. It’s true…I haven’t seen a poorly made balance bike yet. I checked-out your link and was amazed to see an entire store specializing in balance bikes, excellent!
