The scooter is really cool. I hope I can get one near for my little niece as a gift here in our area. The boy who was riding was so cute. I guess the product is safe enough for children who are under 3 years old with the proper guidance from older relatives.
You might be surprised to learn that an individual artist designs these custom scooters by hand (not Vespa) using fiberglass, steel, and wood to your specs! Follow the link and you’ll see a few other nice details including etched nameplates and a personalized logo on the scooter front-panel.
The downside…at $2,000 (plus +$350 shipping to the US) it nearly costs as much as an actual Vespa which retails for $3,200 and up. That’s a lot of cash for a rocker, but it sure beats the horse on springs that I grew up with!
~ Dr.MOZ
PS – I should probably mention that the scooter rider isn’t related to me, he’s the model used in the designer’s Etsy site.
My child loves to ride also in this kind of scooter. In fact, he has one in the house. Anyway, thank you for sharing. Nice picture and really cute kid.
Very cool! The scooter does look like it would be awesome, but at $2,000 plus shipping, it’s more like a toy for a collector! Very interesting. I wonder how many orders the designer gets per year for these?
The boy is really cute and he looks like he’s enjoying his big toy. I guess my nephews would certainly drool when they see that rocking scooter. They are into riding and driving stuff.
@ Julli – Each scooter is customized to your specs, so I’m sure you could arrange for a scooter to be designed in any color. Shoot the artist a note and see what colors he offers.
Pretty sweet little scooter/rocker. This reminds me of some of the things I saw the other day at poshtots.com – you should check out some of the prices on themed kids beds there – oh my!!
@ John – It’s a rocker, so it rocks back and forth. If memory serves (from my horse on springs), riding toys do eventually begin moving around the room when children get too big for them…that’s when you have a problem.
That’s a unique toy. I love the design plus the cute baby. It’s much safer to buy this thing rather than a small bicycle. I always want my babies safety so i think this is a cool one.
That rocker is quite cute & stylish – I bet that little boy enjoyed using it. It’s the sort of toy that would look attractive in any environment yet be fun for kids to use (ie. a good waiting room or office toy – if the room was big enough for it).

Can’t believe they’ve made such a thing, a Vespa for kids

Nice rocker! I have 19 grandchildren and would love to have one of these for the toddlers…but $2000+ is too much. Thanks for sharing!

Very very cute in deed! Where I can get a scooter like that? I want to give it to my niece as a personalized baby gifts birthday gift.
January 6th, 2011 at 10:58 pm
Looks like a really good present to give to a toddler. Stylish as well, and wouldn’t get kids into as much trouble as a real scooter would.

That’s hilarious! It’s almost steampunk. It looks really weighty and heavy and boy-friendly in the picture: is it more lightweight than it looks?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:26 am
Oh my gosh that’s so cute! I want a Vespa for myself but I’d have to buy one of these to match for my little guy too.

My husband is a huge scooter fan, this would be a cool thing to surprise him and the twin boys with.

Wow! you have a very cute son, what’s that? a skate scooter? I want to hug him!
January 19th, 2011 at 12:20 pm
Does the scooter move at all? or does it just stay in place?
