pound. Best of all, the rest of the toys won’t get dumped on the ground when your little one is in a mad rush to find the Batmobile!

The Toy Guardian by Tzung-Yu Lu is still a concept design, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see one in a children’s store near you judging from the recent IDEA Design win. This cute toy box is hard to ignore, reminding kids to fill it up with loose toys laying around the room.

Best of all, the Toy Guardian has wheels allowing it to double as a ride toy.

My only suggestion would be to add a few “softer” designs (without the monster teeth) in the upcoming line for the younger kids. What do yo think parents, would your family like a Toy Guardian when it hits retailers in the future?

Converting your nursery into a “big kid’s room” will be an easy transition thanks to the modern designs offered by BE. This this could easily be the most bizarre nursery idea I’ve had yet, but why not let Michael Jackson design your nursery? No…he won’t likely come to your house, but you can whip-up his entire Peter Pan collection at one of his two actions (9:00 AM and 2:00 PM) on

April 24th. From Peter Pan pictures and chairs to custom figurines designed to attach to the ceiling, everything is expected to go at bargain prices.

There’s a lot more than Peter Pan up for grabs (full-sized arcade games, Star Wars statues, etc), so check out the entire catalog here! In the off chance you aren’t living near Julian’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, you can place your bid online.

Indoor forts can be great fun during winter months, but they tend to take up half the house which doesn’t make for very long lifespans. Designers Josué Gamonal and Vicente Porres of Madrid have found a way around the messy fort dilemma with their award-winning design the Trad Shelter. Part furniture and part fort, the Trad design has a built-in reading light and comes with cozy pillows for quiet time. Clean-up is a breeze for kids of all ages thanks to the Trad’s overhead canopy. I’ll be sure to post an update once I’m able to locate a store carrying the Trad, because that’s a design that parents and kids will love!

It’s time for another independent artist feature, but this time I’ll highlight a few found on Supermarket. If you like Etsy, you’ll probably enjoy products on Supermarket as well. Today’s focus will be animal alphabet prints for nurseries and children’s rooms!

• Decoylab’s Animal Alphabet Poster are 3 color silk screened 18″ x 24″ available in pink/blue and orange/green. They ship rolled straight from Decoylab’s  Kansas City studio for $40.
• Petit Collage’s Animal Alphabet Poster offers this fun 18″ x 24″ poster printed on uncoated paper with water-based ink. They sell for $50 and ship from their San Francisco studio.
• The Alphabet Art Print by Letterfest is available in pink, blue, or yellow on acid free paper. The prints are smaller 7″ x 9″, but they are a great value at $16 and each is supplied with white, bevel-cut window mounts! Packaged in a stiff cardboard envelope and shipped from Devon, England.

In case you haven’t noticed, children’s wall art has really evolved in recent years. Ready-made wallpaper art can be put-up in less than an hour, and the vinyl designs are up in just minutes! I hate to say it, but dad’s abstract interpretations of Disney characters playing random sports may be a thing of the past. Don’t blame the moose, blame the following:

We’re looking for a well-designed children’s chair for under $200, but all we can find is plastic. I’ve had it with the plastic stuff…doesn’t anyone make things out of wood anymore? Do you have any leads on something that will last through the “terrible twos” (and then some) that won’t break the bank?

I know what you mean. Plastic has it’s place, but every now and then you want to invest in a piece of children’s furniture that will be around for years to come. Here are three high-quality pieces that will go the distance!

Hide-n Sit Armchair: This cool chair by Offi Kids has a lift-up seat which offers storage for books or small toys and then easily converts to a stylish chair for you little ones when closed. (available at ModernTots for $119)

Roll-top Chair: Anything with a roll-top gets a “thumbs up” from Dr.MOZ, and if it helps organize toys… it gets a double thumbs-up. This roll-top chair is a toy box when top is open and it becomes a chair when closed. Those with big families will be happy to know that there is also a larger bench version available. (found at 2bmod.com for $175)

The Galap Rocker: Now here’s a classic rocking chair for kids that should take the abuse from any tot and keep on rocking. The Glap Rocker is made of birch wood and comes in five colors. It is created for 2-6 year-olds, but built to hold up to 250 pounds! (available at piccolini for $89)
