If you were attending a baby shower with a dessert tray that seemed…umm…somewhat lacking, chances are good that the host simply forgot to bring out the Fetal Bites. Yummy, nothing gets the party started like a warm plate of fetus cookies! It appears that I’m the last to know about this disturbing fetal treat based on the long list of blogs that this

I’ve been restraining myself when it comes to discussing a number of creepy baby-related trends, but I think it’s time to take off the kid gloves. Today’s creepy trend post features life-like baby products, and to quite frank…they really freak me out.

Maternity Fetus Shirts: I’m sure that I’ll catch a lot of flack in the comments section for pointing this out, but there’s no denying that a shirt with a realistic illustration of a fetus is creepy. I’m sure that there are people out there that love it, but I think that it would appeal more as a men’s T in the “bizarre novelty” section. Sell these to beer-bellied college kids, and I’ll like it a lot more! Creepy Factor “5″

Life-Like Baby Dolls: I know that porcelain doll collectors out there are covering the eyes of their precious doll babies, but don’t worry…I actually don’t find those too creepy (in small numbers). It’s the life-like dolls that (a) have heartbeats, or (b) that breathe, I have real issues with. The doll shown above not only breathes, but it also has life-like vinyl skin, hair, and eyelashes. How creep is that? Creepy Factor “8″

Newborn Cakes: It would take incredible talent to make this cake (designer here), but I certainly wouldn’t bring out a newborn cake like this at a baby shower unless you’re trying to end the party. There’s nothing quite as creepy as celebrating the upcoming birth of a baby as huddling around a newborn cake…and then eating it. Creepy Factor “10″

So there you go…I’ve said it. Realistic fetus clothing is creepy, realistic baby dolls that breathe are creepy, and nothing is quite as creepy as a newborn cake. Click on the comments button to dispute the grades given to the creepy products above, or to submit your own.
