Don’t despair if all of this domain gibberish sounds Greek to you parents. Easy-to-use online services like Babysquatter.com have sprouted-up to help make the geeky process a little easier. Here’s how it works:

1. Visit www.Babysquatter.com and type your baby’s entire name as shown above.
2. Click on “Do It!” and you’ll be sent to a results page showing you if your chosen name is still available.
3. If it is available, go to “Step 4″ below. If your baby name has already been taken, Baby Squatter provides a list of close alternatives that are still available.You’ll choose your second favorite address and got to “Step 4″ below.
4. Much like phone numbers, you never really “own” domain names. You simply subscribe for their use through domain name registrars (like GoDaddy or Network solutions) on a first come, first served basis. Babysquatter automatically points you to a domain name registrar at the end of the process to help make it a smooth transaction.

As a general rule, I like to keep things clean but this parenting video (not safe for work)  is just too perfect to ignore. If you are a new parent that frequents public parks, you’ll eventually have a conversation with a perfect stranger covering all the hot topics

(breastfeeding, sleep sharing, immunizations, TV, developmental milestones, etc.) that will end up just about as good as this does.

I know what you’re thinking…it’s been ages since I’ve featured a useful and affordable “must have” baby invention for new parents. I’m afraid you’ll need to try again tomorrow because today’s strange and interesting find is the Why Cry Baby Analyzer now available for $100 on Amazon! This gadget monitors your baby’s cry to tell you if she is hungry, tired, bored,

stressed, or annoyed. I’m not sure what the monitor will do if the baby is annoyed from hunger or cries for a variety of other possible reasons, but it is advertised to be over 90% effective (according to Amazon.com description) when used in conjunction with a provided symptoms chart.

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m a sucker for baby gadgets…and the stranger the better. Here’s a strange one in the early design phase called the B(l)aby based on the controversial “Mozart effect”. In a nutshell, the theory proposes that exposing children to classical music early in life will ultimately make them more intelligent as adults. If you’re a

believer (and pregnant), you’ll soon grow weary of standing in front of speakers…enter the B(l)aby by Geoff Ramsay. Proposed features include:

• USB port for data transfer (music/voice/etc) from computer or iPod to B(l)aby memory
• microphone embedded inside wrap for direct recording of voice to play for baby
• luminescent technology sewn into the belt for soft pulsating interface
• three mini mechanisms sewn into the back to provide a massage for the expecting mother

I love Geof’s design work, but my take on the B(l)aby…scratch the all the music capabilities, add twelve more massage mechanisms, and sell a million pregnancy massage belts. On the other hand, stranger products are on the market so let’s see what our readers say.
