Okay Gen X’ers…after 226 design submissions and 186,296 votes, the Muppets T-shirt design challenge by Threadless has a winner. This means that it’s officially time to start brainwashing your children with characters from kid’s TV shows that you actually enjoy!

The challenge was to design a t-shirt incorporating Muppets around the theme of friendship. The winning design titled “Together Again” is available in Men’s, Women’s, and Kid’s sizes.

Okay parents, it’s time to throw the credit card back in the freezer. There’s a new childrenswear label in NYC called Toobydoo and I think you’re going to love it. Toobydoo’s online store is packed with a fun collection of great-looking sets (baby, girl, boy), but I must agree with Swissmiss…you really can’t be their rainboots!

There’s a new service for all the little fashionistas out there looking for that perfect pair of baby shoes to go with this Thanksgiving’s turkey onesie. Connecticut-based Preschoolians now allows you to design your own baby shoes, boots, and slippers! You’ll have 27 colors to choose from and 4 designated areas available for customization on over 50 types of footwear. I haven’t checked their math, but trend blog Springwise claims that this amounts to over a billion variations possible! Surely one of the billion baby shoe designs will match the turkey outfit, right?

I saw a nice swaddling blanket on One Goodie today and noticed that it was made from bamboo. Have you seen bamboo baby blankets before? If so, what do you know about bamboo fabric?

Hi Rose,

I haven’t seen Satsuma’s products in person, but I’m very familiar with bamboo fabric and particularly Bamboosa’s line of baby clothing. It could be the softest fabric I’ve

ever felt and unlike most soft fabrics, bamboo is incredibly strong and naturally anti-microbial. In my opinion, it’s superior to cotton in just about every category (absorbency, comfort, sustainability, UV protection, etc) except for price and style.

I mention “style” as a negative because it’s a lot more difficult to decorate considering that the existing blends of bamboo don’t yet lend themselves to traditional screen printing like cotton T’s and onesies do. On the other hand, nine out of ten newborns polled on the topic preferred comfort over decorative embellishments (…maybe they weren’t actually “polled“) which makes bamboo a great choice if you don’t mind paying a little more for the benefits.
