Today’s healthy dose of fun is in the form of a great non-profit organization called Project Linus. As the name suggests, Project Linus provides security and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans created by volunteer “blanketeers”.

I may no longer be in New England, but I certainly haven’t forgotten about some of the fantastic programs I encountered while living there. One of my favorites is the Compass Project of southern Maine which teaches job training and life skills to at-risk youth through boat-building and rowing in teams.
