I’m not sure what it is, but rockers seem to be all the rage these days. Spend a few minutes hopping around your favorite baby and parent blogs and you’re sure to run into an amazing handcrafted rocker. Some take the shape of wooden kangaroos while others look

like well-polished Italian scooters…and then there’s “Rocker” by Doshi Levien.

Rocker in the designer’s words:

“Many things of interest to young children are not figurative but instead everyday objects that are not intended for play! Children find their own imaginative purpose for any object already in the home. This observation prompted us to create a “Rocker” for Richard Lampert that is like a found object, an improvised ride.”

To be honest, I’m never sure what to think about minimalist designs for young children like Rocker. I would imagine that kids would flock to it…if it were sitting alone, under a spotlight in an empty warehouse. Put Rocker next to the previously mentioned kangaroo or Vespa Scooter rockers and it wouldn’t stand a chance. On the other hand…I was famous for eating cat food as a toddler, so perhaps I’m genetically predispositioned for less avant-garde toys.

What do you think parents? Am I off my rocker to think that most kids wouldn’t be excited about an elegant (bordering on post-apocalyptic) design like this one?

Have fun and stay healthy,

I realize that today’s feature won’t help me win an award for environmental sensitivity, but the AquaAntics Water Bomb Factory is just too awesome to be ignored. The rapid water balloon fill system takes your backyard water war to a whole new level with an easy-to-use

fill spout, quick knot tying arm, and clamp for securing the bomb factory to tables our sturdy chairs. Video demo below:

Not only does the system come with 2 spigot/sink adapters, but balloons are also included so you’ll be ready to rumble.
I know that I’ve featured quite a few strange kid-related products and services through the years, but Prague-based Toy Traveling may have just taken the lead in the crazy race. How it works in their words:

Choose the fare you like most.

Fill in and send the order form.

After we confirm your order, pay the chosen amount.

Send your favorite toy to our address. Please ship your friend in a hard robust box which can also be used for the return trip. (Valid for the BASIC fare)

We will confirm arrival of your friend by email.

Your toy is going to experience an adventurous and unforgettable trip around Prague (Czech Republic).

After the trip is over, we will deliver your friend to you in order, together with all the items of the price package you’ve chosen.

Yes, you read that right…send your “favorite toy” on a vacation to Prague. The trip’s services vary by individual package, but the most basic fair includes (a) 30 pictures on disc, (b) a certificate of successful visit, (c) a Facebook profile (d) a surprise, and (e) daily communication by email. Toy Traveling claims to be “the First global Travel Agency for Teddy bears and Cuddly toys” and of course, the company has a Facebook page to learn more.

I know, you probably think you’ve seen just about everything by now don’t you? Drop by next week…there’s a lot more crazy to come.

BabyComfyNose in their words:

“Consider for a moment the nasal aspirators in your drawers at home that don’t work. Perhaps the bulb they sent you home from the hospital with to clear newborn congestion, or the expensive battery-operated one that just doesn’t generate much suction. Now consider a vacuum nasal aspirator that really works. You’ll never need to buy another aspirator again! Baby congestion relief.”

If you are a regular visitor here at the Dear Dr.MOZ baby blog, you already know that there’s no shortage of strange baby and children’s products. From stylish morning sickness bags to umbrella caps, I’m doing my best to cover each strange and interesting invention. The difference between most products placed in the “strange” category and today’s feature

is…parents might actually find the Flyebaby useful!

The Flyebaby is a hammock-style seat designed to provide a comfortable seating area for babies up to 25 pounds when sitting in airplanes, at the beach, or by the pool. As seen in the image above, it secures easily to a tray table on an airplane, lounge/beach chairs, and most kitchen chairs. To be honest, I’m not sure I’d secure my newborn to three-pound lounge chair at a beach in Northern California (could easily become a baby kite with a gust of wind), but it’s a great idea for long flights. Not only will a Flyebaby fit in a diaper bag, but they are machine washable and come with matching storage bags.

Flyebaby portable seats can be found at flyebaby.com in “Jungle”, “Retro-Mod”, and “Solid Grey” for $49.99. Do you own a Flyebaby, or would you like one as a gift? If so, place your review in the comment box below to let us know what you think!

There have been so many ridiculous baby-related products to hit the market during the past few years, you might begin to believe that our generation invented stupidity. Buck-up parents, horrible ideas have been around for decades and the hilarious gallery 30 Dumb Inventions by LIFE is here to prove it.

“A nanny supervising a baby suspended in a wire cage attached to the outside of a high tenement block window. The cages were distributed to members of the Chelsea Baby Club in London who have no gardens, or qualms about putting a child in a box dangling over a busy street.”

Although the baby cage (above) makes my list for the absolute worst of the 30 Dumb Inventions, Beating Breasts from 1963 was a close second!

The Hûske might also prove to be a useful breastfeeding box for those corporations preferring slightly dorky boxes on wheels to unsightly babies and partially exposed breasts. What’s your vote America? Do you think that the Hûske would make a better diaper changing station or breastfeeding box?

I’ve seen quite a few strange products for new and expecting parents, but I can’t remember seeing promotional material that actually made me sick to my stomach…but in a good way. When you are selling products for expecting mothers with morning sickness like Morning Chicness Bags, you might as well go all the way and tell it like it is. In their

words:

“Morning Chicness Bags: morning sickness vomit bags for the chic expectant mother“

Not only is this the first time I’ve seen the word “vomit” used in a slogan, but it looks like the logo is getting ready to hurl as well. You’ll find all six sophisticated barf bags available online, each with leak-proof polyethylene lining and horizontal closure clips. Bravo Morning Chicness Bags, bravo!
